The Case for Investing in Post-Crash Care in Asia and the Pacific

Reports and Strategies | 1 July 2025

This report focuses on the post-crash burdens disproportionally affect the young and working population. Beyond post-crash response, improvement at the trauma care system can reduce a patient’s length of hospital stay, average cost of health care, and improve overall functioning and quality of life post-injury. This makes investments in trauma care systems a highly cost-effective approach for multisectoral action across the health and transport sectors. The benefits of improvement in trauma care extend beyond road traffic injuries but extend to other major trauma cases, and contribute to universal health coverage.
